The challenge I identified was in helping young children understand why they are in hospital and how their condition effects their body, as it is a difficult subject to approach. I designed illustrations that simplify and compare parts of the body to objects children may be more familiar with, I have created medical illustrations with a twist. These illustrations will take the form of wall murals in waiting rooms for different departments of pediatric hospital’s across the UK. They help to explain the functionality of organs within organ systems. The interactive wall murals and accompanying poems, aim to aid parent and child in conversation about how their body might be affected by a medical condition.
